A Fixer Upper: Before & After

I had the pleasure of working on this fun remodel project recently. This split-level
5 bedroom, 3 bath stucco home was built in the mid nineties and seriously needed an overhaul.

Starting with the exterior, we painted the pale pink color and went with fresh white paint, we added brick around the bottom of the house, changed out the wood railing to iron on the front porch, installed a new wooden door and lanterns, then completely started over with all new landscape and a back deck.

Next, on the interior we ripped up the parquet and vinyl flooring, took down the dated wallpaper and lighting, removed old counter tops and replaced them with new granite and marble, refaced all the cabinets with new doors and paint, installed new hardwood and tile, painted the whole house a neutral color, removed the textured ceilings for smooth ceilings, added detailed trim, reworked the stairs with oak treads, added all new oil rubbed bronze hardware throughout, and then we added a beautiful new back splash in the kitchen.

Now this house is completely updated and ready to move in! I'm certain this house won't stay on the market very long.

  1. Much improved!!! It's amazing how quickly 25 years dates a home. It was a 7 year old home when I was going to relocate and sell my home but the housing market crashed. And jobs too. So I stayed. Now my house is 15. And counters and cabinets and a hutch and such all seem terribly dated. How did it go so fast?!! Looking at all that you did it reminds me of all that my daughter has done in four years in her 1980's home. And she bought a home a friend of mine had custom built and we thought was just so grand as is!!!!
