Framed Art in E's Room



Over the last few months, I have assisted my two year old daughter with painting, using acrylics and watercolors on cardstock. I have been wanting to add more color in her bedroom, so I decided to frame a few of her works of art in a collection. I love the bright pink abstract against the neutral walls. The light gray matted frames from Ikea are perfect paired with the gray dresser mirror.

Having a toddler is so much fun! She was so excited about her paintings being displayed in her room. She loves playing in her bedroom, but seeing her face light up by adding something special she made makes this mama smile.

Welcoming Eleanor!

Our baby girl Eleanor arrived on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 4:28 pm. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, 19 1/4" long and oh so perfect. She has a head full of dark brown hair and big blue eyes. She is such a good baby and we are overjoyed with love for this little bundle. 

This past week Eleanor had her first photo shoot taken by Fair Photography. She mainly specializes in newborn photography and did an amazing job capturing Eleanor's many facial expressions and her big blue eyes in several of the photos. I can't wait to see all of the photos she took! We will cherish them forever. 

Baby Girl's Nursery

Our baby girl's nursery has been a work in progress since we found out the baby's gender at 18 weeks. It's been so much fun decorating for our little girl. I wanted to keep the room sophisticated and mainly neutral with bits of pink accessories for an easy transition as she grows older. 

We already had the distressed gray bookcases and the antique dresser so we knew a dark crib would coordinate well with the two. The muted oushak rug layered on the large jute area rug really brings the whole color scheme of the room together. The light linen glider and drapery help soften the space.

We decided to wait until she's born to reveal her name for an added surprise. It's been a lot of fun for everyone trying to guess her name. 

 I was excited to incorporate a vintage brass floor lamp that was passed down from my grandmother in this seating area. We've had the side table for several years and just updated it with a little paint.

I infused salvaged architectural finds in her nursery with the pink and green shutter and the 1800's distressed, mirrored closet doors. I love the extra character they add to the room. We sealed all the old paint for added safety. 

I found this antique dresser at an auction last year and it couldn't fit more perfect on this wall. It functions as a changing table now and will later easily transition for a big girl room.

I framed a few of my favorite maternity pictures for her bookcases which will eventually be filled with books and toys.

The bedding is kept simple in all white linen from Restoration Hardware with pink and white buffalo check pillows from Ikea.

I can't wait to see our baby girl wear this beautiful handmade, smocked pink dress from a dear friend. Her closet is getting full pretty fast, it's just so much fun buying for little girls!

My due date is less than three weeks away! It's all starting to get real at this point in my pregnancy with preparing, nesting, and now just patiently waiting to meet our sweet E.

Top Projects of 2014

As 2014 comes to a close I'm taking a look back at the year and sharing my top blog posts. 

This has been an eventful year in so many ways. Jacob and I started adding to our family and are expecting our first child in January and we decided to close our antique store after four wonderful years of business- to spend more time as a family. 

Both of these events have kept us busy and will change our lives forever. I'm looking forward to being a stay-at-home-mom and this new chapter in our lives while continuing my decorating business and furniture projects too!

Maternity Pictures

Today we took advantage of the beautiful fall weather and headed out to snap some maternity pictures. I cannot believe that I'm already 32 weeks pregnant- it has flown by! We are anxiously counting down the weeks until we meet our little girl who's due in late January. We are looking forward to being a family of three.

 I'm still finishing the final touches in our nursery and hope to share it soon.
