DIY Chevron Pushpin Boards

Hey there! Today I'm sharing a fun and easy DIY project that I recently made using several old frames we had sitting around the store. First I gave them a coat of paint and distressed them a bit. Then I bought gray chevron fabric and foam core boards from Hobby Lobby, cut and stapled the fabric to the board and then stapled the board to the frame which created quite lovely pushpin and photo boards.

Repurposed Window -Turned Mirror

I hope you had a great weekend! Today I want to share with you the latest project that we completed this weekend. These plain, vintage windows were turned into gorgeous mirrors with the help of my husband busting out the glass panes and cutting the mirrors. We salvaged the tall, skinny window from a New Orleans trip last year. The other six pane window was a bargain purchase awhile back and I decided it needed a makeover too. I just love the idea of taking an ordinary piece and then making it special with a slight change.    

During the process of taking all of the old, cracked glue and paint chips out of the window pane surround. It helps to prep the window for evenly gluing the mirrors in place.

The paint is all nice and chippy. . . just how I like it.

This beauty sold the same day we put it out in our store! I was so glad the sweet couple that bought the mirror loved and appreciated it as much as we did.  

We are going to make several more of these six pane mirrors to add in the store this week.

Fabric Pumpkins

Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend! I want to share with you several fall fabric pumpkin inspiration ideas along with some adorable fabric pumpkins a friend made for me this weekend. {pictured below}

I just love the velvet and burlap pumpkins mixed with twine, the use of real pumpkin stems, and the wine cork and lace stem from my burgundy pumpkin. There are so many options and creative ways to make these fabric pumpkins.

During the last few weeks I have been preparing for fall. The weather here in Alabama doesn't quiet start feeling like fall until October, but with the end of summer and the official beginning of fall approaching; I'm looking forward to wearing boots and flats, scarves, and layering with cardigans and sweaters.

Chippy Doors

Hey! It's been a while since I blogged last. I just wanted to check in and share with you these amazing, chippy exterior doors that we found today. 

The pair of doors are from the mid 1800's and have so much character. They may possibly be going in our new house for our exterior back doors that lead to the back porch or I may even take the glass out and replace them with mirrors (like I did here) for decorative pieces in our house. Either way they will be used somewhere in the new house. I want to incorporate old and new elements throughout the house and these will definitely make a statement.

I love all the detailed molding and the chippy, distressed look of these. Ahh... I can already imagine what they will look like in the house.

Saying Goodbye to our First home

Hey there! It has been a whirlwind these last few weeks. We have been cleaning out, moving furniture, and prepping our house to sell. All the hard work and stress has paid off for us. Just after 16 days on the market our house sold!! We couldn't be more excited that our first little home we built can now be appreciated by another sweet couple. 

Now that we prepare to build our dream home, we are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives. We cannot wait to begin building.

In the last month we have also bought a lot in a great neighborhood to raise our future family, designed an amazing open floor plan, and found an (inspiration house) exterior that we want our house to look like.

I'm mostly looking forward to choosing all the materials and putting those special touches throughout the house. Of course, my main concern will be design and decorating decisions. 

I pray I don't get too stressed out during the building process, the planning part was fairly easy, for the most part. Construction should begin in September and take 6-8 months to finish. I'll keep you posted on the process. 

Now the FUN part begins. . . packing and moving everything out that we've accumulated over five years.
